Sclerotherapy of spider veins

The sclerotherapy of spider veins and small varicose veins is known as micro-sclerotherapy or also fine sclerotherapy; in the case of smaller varicose veins or superficial spider veins, sclerotherapy with liquid medicaments is sufficient. Several sessions are occasionally necessary if patients have a lot of varicose veins. However, foam sclerotherapy can be expedient in the event of larger vein bulges. The focus is on the aesthetic perspective with the treatment of spider veins, hence the costs are not reimbursed by the health insurance provider. Micro-sclerotherapy is performed on an outpatient basis and can eliminate spider veins without laser, narcosis or incisions. The results can be seen approximately 6-8 weeks after treatment and special compression bandages are not absolutely necessary. A session normally takes approx. 30 minutes and costs CHF 350.00

Micro-sclerotherapy is a safe and efficacious treatment method. This is also shown in the known 2010 EASI study, in which the efficacy and safety of sclerotherapy for spider veins and net-shaped varicose veins was examined using the sclerosing agent polidocanol.
